The property agents will be listing the pub with a guide price of €700,000.
A cornerstone of local community, The Holy Cross pub and restaurant is up for sale as the current owners have decided to retire after many years.
The owners, Bobby and Eileen Bohill, have decided to hang up their aprons after 30 years of running the pub. Their familiar faces would be well-known in the area.
The premises is based on the Cork Road near Butlerstown GAA Club and Ashleigh House B&B, a 5-minute drive from the near-by South East Technological University and a 10-minute drive from Waterford city centre.
The property agents will be listing the pub with a guide price of €700,000. The Holy Cross is the first pub of its stature to go on sale in Waterford in many years, having developed a reputation for its food offering with the Sunday lunch being a local favourite. The pub's carvery is well appreciated in the area.
With a spacious 140-person premises, The Holy Cross is commonly used for private functions in the local community. Despite the upcoming change in owners, the establishment may remain open as a pub.
Purcell Properties of Waterford and Lisney's of Dublin have been appointed and the Holy Cross will be formally marketed in the coming weeks in a joint effort by the two parties.
"The high profile location, close proximity to Waterford Industrial Estate and SETU, and ample parking, all combined to make “the Holy” very accessible," the letting agents, Des Purcell, and bars specialist Tony Morrissey of Lisney said, crediting the location as "an important factor in the successful trade enjoyed by the Bohill's for very many years."
"It sits on an acre, which provides parking for approximately 150 cars. The Holy Cross offers excellent potential for further expansion and development.
"Considerable interest is anticipated as a pub of this stature has not been brought to the market locally for a long time."
