Good news for live entertainment in Waterford City as two venues receive a funding boost thanks to a national scheme.

The Reg and Bank Lane are the two Waterford recipients of the 2026 Grassroots Venues Support Scheme.

The Reg is set to receive €6,000 and Bank Lane will receive €20,000 in funding.

They are among 60 Irish venues to avail of the €1 million scheme, which ensures that artists and crew be paid for their work and that grassroots artists be featured alongside established acts.

In April 2026 Waterford singer/songwriter echo northstar supported MB3 (Miki Berenyi Trio) at their headline gig at Bank Lane.

Edel Curtin of Coughlan’s Cork, speaking on behalf of the Live Venue Collective: “This is not just vital financial help for our venues; it is also an acknowledgement of the essential role our stages play in the development of Irish artists. There is a long challenging road ahead in keeping our grassroots venues open and functioning and this support is a step in the right direction.”
