Appeal for witnesses following fatal accident in Waterford
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
The Gardaí in Waterford have issued an appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on the Tramore Road (R675) earlier today, Saturday, February 21.
The collision, involving two vehicles, happened at Robin Hill, Tramore.
A spokesperson for the Gardaí issued a statement to Waterford News & Star and said Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident, involving a van and a car, at approximately 12pm.
The occupants of the car, a man and a woman, both in their 40s, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Their remains have been removed to University Hospital Waterford where post-mortem examinations will take place in due course.
The Coroner has been notified.
The occupants of the van, a man (50s) and a juvenile male, were taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment for injuries believed to be non life-threatening.
"Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have completed a technical examination of the scene and the road has been reopened," said the spokesperson.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 11.45am and 12.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
