Gardai confirm Tramore road accident as fatal
Gardai and emergency services are at the scene of a fatal accident on the main Waterford to Tramore road.
Gardai in Waterford have confirmed they are attending a fatal road traffic accident on the main Tramore road, which occurred on Robin's Hill near Pickardstown this afternoon (Saturday), but they are not in a position to confirm further details at this stage.
A statement issued by the Garda Press Office this evening read: "Garda Síochána can confirm that we are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the Tramore Road at Pickardstown, Co. Waterford today, Saturday 21st February 2026.
"However, we are not in a position to confirm any further details as we endeavour to identify the deceased. We are appealing to media to give us the opportunity to contact the families of those involved in this incident.
"An Garda Síochána will issue a press release on this incident in due course."
It's believed there were two vehicles involved in the collision. Gardaí, ambulance crews, and fire service members arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, and the road closure is causing delays for motorists travelling through the area.
Motorists are advised to avoid the Ballykinsella Crossroads/ Pickardstown Cross areas if possible and to adhere to all traffic control measures in place.
