Affordable Housing is being in Crooke, County Waterford.

Waterford City and County Council are opening applications for Affordable Housing in Crooke, Co. Waterford. 

The Council are presenting nine new affordable homes, in partnership with Carey Homes, at Mill Heights in Crooke, Passage East, Co. Waterford.

The estate consists of seven 3-bed semi-detached homes and two 3-bed detached bungalow, all with an A-BER rating. 

The homes are available to purchase under the Affordable Housing Act 2021, which is supported by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage

Director of Services for Housing at Waterford City and County Council Seamus De Faoite said of the development: "Mill Heights has so much to offer those looking to settle in one of the most beautiful parts of Waterford. These quality homes have been designed to the highest standards of energy efficiency and sustainability.

"In addition to Mill Heights, Housing for All schemes such as Leargán in Kilmacthomas, Ballycarnane in Tramore and Summerfields in Kilbarry, are testament to the Council’s commitment to meeting Waterford’s affordable housing needs.”

The minimum purchase price of these quality homes is €300,000 and €330,000 respectively for the semi-detached units and the detached bungalow units.

To apply applicants must be first time buyers or qualify under the Fresh Start Principle, which applies to those who have previously purchased or built a property, but have divested themselves of their interest in the property.

The final purchase price paid by successful applicants will be based on income and mortgage capacity and Waterford City and County Council will take an equity share in the home, representing the difference between the market value and the price paid.

Applications for Mill Heights open at 10am on Wednesday, June 17. Mortgage approval in principle is strongly recommended before applying.
