The graduation ceremony at St Joseph's School in Waterford took place recently and there was a very special significance to the event.

One of the pupils graduating was Rhys Jenkins and as part of the event he invited a staff member from his former school to the event.

Six years after leaving Mount Sion School, Rhys reached out to Jennifer Guiry, a Special Needs Assistant at the school, and invited her to attend his graduation at St Joseph’s School.

For Jennifer, the invitation was a proud moment and a reminder that the bonds formed in school can last long after the classroom years have ended.

Jennifer said the occasion was especially meaningful for her as she never graduated herself.
