16 houses approved in Ferrybank

The works involve the demolition of two existing shed buildings at an existing brownfield site to facilitate the construction of 16 two-storey houses.
New housing at Abbeylands, Ferrybank has been approved.
The works involve the demolition of two existing shed buildings at an existing brownfield site to facilitate the construction of 16 two-storey houses, 12 of which are three-bedroom units and four are two-bedroom units.
A new site entrance from Abbey Road is also approved, as are new boundary treatments, and all associated site and development works.
The 0.478-hectare site is located in Ferrybank, Co. Kilkenny less than 1km south east of the centre, and circa 1km east of Waterford city centre. Public open space proposed amounts to 575m2, which is 12% of the development site excluding ancillary green areas provided.
The planning report stated: “The scale of the development, which consists of two-storey dwellings, assimilates well into the surrounding area, which primarily consists of two-storey units in nearby multi-unit developments and in the adjoining Farmlea Estate.”
