Congratulations to Craig Keyworth, Newtown, Stradbally, on being crowned the 2024 Paddlesurf Ireland Grand Master champion in all three disciplines - High Performance, International Class and Waveski. This result concludes a good 15 months of competitive surf kayaking for Craig since his 3rd place finish in the European Championships in Spain, in September 2023.
The Gárdai visited a number of locations in Waterford recently with their Community Van. The aim of the visits was to give local people the opportunity to report crime, discuss their concerns and also get help completing forms and any other business requiring Garda attention. It is planned that following the initial phase, the Community Van initiative will be extended to other areas within Waterford's Community Engagement Area.
This year marks the 46th year of Stradbally AFC Christmas Day swim. What started out with a group of less than 10 people, has grown to the numbers that we have today, which is indeed a great achievement. Over the years many groups have benefitted from the swim and we would now appeal to you all to consider coming along this year and lend your support to 'Baby Cass'. The swim itself is an occasion to meet up with friends and neighbours; a chance to get out for a stroll with children on Christmas morning. Our swimmers and followers are always in good form and the plan is to hit the water at 12noon. To acclimatize you need to start taking cold showers or a cold bath and prepare for that moment when Tadhg blows the whistle and it's time to take the plunge into the Stradbally surf. This appeal is for Baby Cass's continued medical support and we ask for an extra effort in collecting sponsorship. A bucket collection will be taking place during the swim.
The Christmas Market was a great success and very well attended. It had a great variety of festive decorations, wreaths, cards, crafts, home-baking, preserves, fruit and vegetables. There were cups of tea and scones available and even time for a chat. The producers will be back at their usual venue next Saturday at the Cove Bar from 10am onwards. If you want to place an order for Christmas or for any product on sale please call Margaret on 087 6337215 just drop by and pick up.
