Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Monday, July 7, 2025, of Mr Pat Howley, Oakley Drive, Earls Court, Waterford City, Waterford / Portlaw, Waterford / Mooncoin, Kilkenny. Formerly of Mooncoin, County Kilkenny and Portlaw, County Waterford.

Predeceased by his loving parents, Kieran and Mary and brother-in-law Walter Fewer. He is survived by his loving partner Henri-Paul and the Loiseleur family, daughters Grace, Ruth and Una and their mother Jo and her husband Martin, sister Marion (Fewer), brothers Kieran, Martin, Noel and Eugene, son-in-law Rafael, sisters-in-law Mary, Diane, Detta and Janet, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.

Pat will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Private cremation. Condolences are extended to Pat's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Thursday, July 10 2025, of Mrs Mary Malthouse, nee Galvin, Late of Leoville, Dunmore Road, Waterford, Formerly of Carrickbeg.  

Predeceased by her beloved husband Frank and her son Sean.

She is survived by her loving children Pearse, Geraldine, Catherine and Kieran. Mary will be sadly missed by her family, grandchildren Dylan, Beau and Louis, sister-in-law Ronnie, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mary will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family and friends.

Requiem Mass took place in St. Joseph and Benildus’ Church, Newtown, on Thursday, July 17, at 10:30am. Burial afterwards to St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. 

Condolences are extended to Mary's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement The death has sadly occurred on Friday, July 11, 2025 of Mrs Miriam Clooney Pleasant Drive, Mount Pleasant, Waterford Formerly of Viewmount and The Manor, Waterford.

She is survived by her loving husband Michael, sons David and Michael, daughter Liz, daughters-in-law Jill and Juliana, brother Martin, sisters Ann, Alicia, Angela and Patricia, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. 

Miriam will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Requiem Mass took place on Monday, July 14, in St John’s Church, Parnell Street, Waterford at 12:30pm, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. 

Condolences are extended to Miriam's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Saturday, July 12, 2025, of Mr Michael Baldwin Crooke, Passage East, Waterford. 

Former Managing Director of Pierce Engineering, Wexford and a Financial Director of Waterford Stanley. 

He is survived by his loving wife Theresa, his children Niamh, Lisa, Neil & Adam, granddaughter Lucy, grandsons Darragh, Isaac & Aaron, daughters-in-law Kelly Anne & Liz, son-in-law Jamie and his much beloved dogs Aussie, Baloo & Mona.

He was our Sun, Moon and Stars. Our Anchor and our Sails, the guiding light in our lives that can never be replaced, and we will miss him profoundly forever.

Mike will also be missed and fondly remembered by his extended family and his many friends and colleagues from throughout the years. 

Requiem Mass took place in St John the Baptist Church, Crooke, Passage East, Waterford on Wednesday, July 16 at 1pm, followed by burial in Crooke Cemetery.

Condolences are extended to Michael's family, relatives and friends.

Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, of Mrs Catherine O’Byrne, late of Grange Heights, Waterford City.

Predeceased by her beloved parents, Richard and Nellie Cullen. 

She is survived by her loving husband Jack; her daughters Mary, Ruth, and Kate; her adoring grandchildren Grace, Mary-Kate, Jack, Sadie, Eliza, Billy and Giles; her brother Maurice; and her sons-in-law Kieran, Martin, and Michael.

Catherine will be fondly remembered by all her nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives, wonderful neighbours, and many friends.

Requiem Mass took place on Friday, July 18 at 10:30am, in St Joseph and St Benildus Church, Newtown, Waterford City, after which Catherine will be laid to rest in St Declan’s Cemetery, Tramore, Co. Waterford.  

Condolences are extended to Catherine family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death has sadly occurred on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, of Mr. Edmond Eddie Power, Late of Brownstown, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Frances, his parents, brothers and sisters and grandson Jack.

He is survived by his loving children Eddie, Marea, Richard and Robert, his adoring grandchildren Keith, Graham, Sharon, Conor, Ben and Lee, great-grandchildren Tara, Kerri and Ollie, daughters-in-law Bridget, Loretta, Ronnie and Caroline.

He will be fondly remembered by his nephews, extended family and friends. Edmond will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family and friends.

Requiem Mass took place in Our Lady’s Church, Carbally on Saturday, July 19 at 12 noon.

Immediately afterwards, Eddie will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. 

Condolences are extended to the Edmond family, relatives and friends.

Southside Motor Club and Cars and Coffee Waterford   

Are hosting a charity drive in aid of Bumbleance on Sunday, August 17, 2025. 

Cars can gather for Waterford's monthly cars and coffee and will then depart at approximately 1pm, to head on a coastal scenic drive with end location Waterford Raceway for a few laps and photo opportunities. 

Bucket collection and Raffle on the day. Registration fee €10 per car All funds raised on the day go to Bumbleance.

Spraoi 2025 

Spraoi is a free urban festival in beautiful Waterford in the south-east of Ireland. 

It attracts nearly 100,000 people and the city streets act as a stage for acts from around the world,”- The Guardian. 

Spraoi International Street Arts Festival will run over three days, August 1-3, in Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city. 

The festival presents approximately two hundred free street theatre, dance, spectacle, contemporary circus and music shows.

Waterford Parent Hub Come and say hello to Waterford Parent Hub and our Friends @waterford_childcare_committee next week. We are kicking off a series of information sessions around Waterford City and County and popping in to visit all local parent, baby, and toddler groups over the coming months.

Summer Stars Free Reading Programme

Summer Stars Free Reading Programme runs from now until August 31 in Waterford Libraries. 

Pick up your child’s Reading Card, complete it before August 31 and drop it back at your local library. 

Any child who completes the Summer Stars Reading Programme will receive a medal and certificate in October 2025.

Central Library Summer Stars Monster Doodle

Colour in and create your own creatures as part of Central Library's Monster Doodle craft event, running every Saturday for the month of July, from 10am to 1pm.

Waterford City Fire Station Open Day 2025 is on Sunday, July 27, from 2pm – 5pm. 

Autism Friendly Hour 2pm -3pm (Quiet Hour), and a calm place is available on the day. Fire Demos throughout the day, Aerial rescue demo. 

Garda and Ambulance vehicles are also on show.

Woodstown Beach (by The Saratoga Bar), let’s take action for our planet. Waterford's Youth Advisory Climate Council (YACC) is hosting a beach clean-up to protect our beautiful coast and tackle pollution, and you are invited!

Come make a difference by cleaning up one of our most beautiful beaches. Every bit of plastic we remove is a win for the planet.

We've got you covered. It's easy with Local Link Route 358. Departing Clock Tower, Waterford: 1pm.
