Your Fitness: Why do we do what we do?

Your Fitness: Why do we do what we do?

Every now and again, remind yourself of where you were a year ago - it is likely you are in a better position now than then.

This is something I feel isn’t discussed enough when it comes to getting started on or looking to improve your health and fitness.

What are you struggling with in your daily life? How do you think working on your health and fitness can help you better manage or even overcome this obstacle? How much does this mean to you? Are you doing it for yourself or to try to impress others?

These are important questions that can often add a lot more value and meaning to the goals you set and the daily tasks you aim to complete in order to get there.

Maybe it’s to become more confident, more independent or maybe you are just sick of getting breathless doing simple tasks around the house!

Maybe you want to become a better parent, a better partner, a role model to those around you. These thought processes can often be subconscious but it is important to verbalise them and set out goals that are relative to your long-term goal.

Yes, we are exercising in many cases to improve our health and fitness, but often we can utilise this journey to become a better person for those around us. It will be a lot easier to continue working on yourself when you have a deeper meaning to why you started.

If you’re reading this and looking to get on top of your health and fitness - think about areas in your life you would like to start handling better. Set some goals that are relative to becoming the person you want to be.

Every month or so, reflect on your initial goals; if you are moving closer - it’s working.

If not, reflect on your adherence to the plan set and make small changes as needed.

Keep it simple and progressive. Think big and every now and again, remind yourself of where you were a year ago - it is likely you are in a better position now than then.
