Your Fitness: Setting goals to feel your best this summer

Yes, time flies. Summer is now a matter of weeks away, and some people reading this might be pulling their hair out as they look to find the best way to get in shape for their next holiday! Where to start? It can be a challenging time for many! In this article I will offer three tips that should help get you on the right track!
Deadlines create a sense of urgency, which when done realistically can kickstart and help to maintain your motivation towards a desired goal. How many weeks away is your holiday? What is your overall goal? What do you hope to achieve each week as you edge closer? These are the questions, and you must think realistically about your answers. What is achievable within your time frame, and will the habits needed to make it happen be sustainable for the given period.
First things first. Have a look at how much water you are drinking daily. Make sure you are drinking enough to remain hydrated and to benefit from the plethora of benefits that come alongside adequate hydration on a daily basis. Moderate your diet where appropriate. Could you be eating more protein? Could you possibly opt for some low calorie alternatives when it comes to your current diet? These are all helpful steps to take before making any drastic changes.
As simple as it sounds, it’s no secret that increasing your activity levels is your best friend when it comes to getting in shape.
Could you possibly incorporate a daily step target or timed walk into your daily routine.
Maybe you are keen to improve your 5k time, maybe set yourself a goal each week to improve this at the end of each week?
Last, but not least, try hit the gym 2-3 times per week, sometimes just getting in for at least 30 minutes each time for a set number of exercises can be a very simple and effective habit to get into when it comes to getting in shape, maybe sign up to a new class, which runs for a set number of weeks, which can help with accountability!
As you can see, there are plenty of little things we can do to kickstart our fitness journey at our nearest convenience, whether we have an upcoming holiday or not. Why shouldn’t you challenge yourself to set a new goal to help you look and feel your best this summer!
