Google unveiled The Bakery, its newest building in Dublin’s Docklands, which is set to welcome Google employees from late 2027.

Google President and chief investment officer Ruth Porat joined Minister Peter Burke to open the historic building, marking the latest chapter in Google’s enduring and deep-rooted commitment to Ireland.

The announcement comes as an Implement Consulting Group report estimates Google’s economic contribution in Ireland at more than €10 billion in 2025 alone.

The Bakery, located on Grand Canal Street in Dublin at the site of the original 1874 City of Dublin Bakery founded by Patrick Boland, will add 325,000 square feet to its existing footprint in Ireland.

It will have capacity to accommodate up to 1,900 workers, part of Google’s 6,000 employees in Dublin, as well as a dedicated events hub.

Sustainability was central to the building’s design, with the reuse of its existing structural steel and use of low-carbon materials and rainwater harvesting, and a rooftop terrace with extensive native planting among its key features.

It also marked the launch of Implement Consulting Group’s research, looking at Google’s contribution to the Irish economy - the first analysis of Google’s economic impact in Ireland.

The report estimates that Google contributed more than €10 billion to Ireland’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025 alone, and supported over 18,000 jobs across the wider Irish economy.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said: "Competitiveness is a central theme of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU this year.

"By expanding their footprint here, Google is reinforcing Ireland's position as a digital leader internationally. It is also fitting that a building so central to Ireland’s political emergence is now an engine room for our digital and economic future.”

The contribution to the GDP includes products & platforms (approx €4 billion): led by search and ads (€3.5 billion) and Android & Google Play (€370 million), which connect Irish businesses to global markets. AI & Cloud (approx €3.0 billion):

Driven by rapid adoption of cloud computing (€2.2 billion) and AI workflows (€900 million) that are boosting productivity across Irish enterprises and public institutions.

Infrastructure & Offices (approx €3 billion): Supported by Google’s physical footprint, including office operations (€2.2 billion) and its data centre hub in Ireland (€1.1 billion).

Implement Consulting estimated that in 2025, Google supported over 18,000 jobs across the wider Irish economy, including more than 6,000 Google employees.
