Waterford centre wins national good causes award

Carbally Community Development Project won a National Lottery Good Causes award
A vibrant community initiative in rural County Waterford has won a National Lottery Good Causes award.
The Carbally Community Development Project was honoured as the Co. Waterford winner in the most recent awards.
The prestigious accolades are aimed at acknowledging the exceptional work done by volunteers, coaches, caregivers, and dedicated individuals throughout Ireland.
The recognition in Waterford highlighted the significant impact of the project on the local community and its ongoing efforts to support and enhance local life.
The Carbally Community Development Project (CCDP) is currently offering a variety of activities catering for diverse interests and age groups. Residents can participate in crochet classes, which provide a creative outlet and a chance to develop new skills.
For those who enjoy physical activity, line dancing classes offer a fun and social way to stay fit and there are also yoga classes that promote wellness and relaxation.
Such is the all-inclusive nature of the activities at the centre that drama classes will be starting up soon and anyone interested can contact Eleanor at 085 1344403 for more information.
A spokesperson for the centre commented: “These classes promise to be an excellent opportunity for community members to express their creativity and potentially discover new talents.”
There will also be a kids cookery camp coming up soon and any parents interested in enrolling their child can find out more or book a place by contacting Lets Cook at 087 9027425.
The community centre’s Café Connect is also now open from 10am to 12noon, Monday to Friday, serving tea, coffee, and light treats. A very welcoming space, it’s an ideal spot for people to relax and socialize and it complements the newly established walkway running track - a popular facility funded by the Sports Capital Grant and the National Lottery.
“The track is frequently used by both young and old, promoting a healthy lifestyle within the community,” said the spokesperson.
In addition to receiving the National Lottery Goof Causes award for County Waterford, the team behind the centre are now looking forward to the national finals and the entire community stands behind them, proud of their achievements and eager to support their continued success.

The festival promises a full program of activities, ensuring a delightful day of nostalgia, sport, and music for all ages. Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the festive atmosphere and community spirit.
