Bereavement 

The death sadly occurred on Monday, June 10, of Mrs. Bernadette (Bernie), Hayden (née: Roche) St. Anthony’s, Kilea, Dunmore East and formerly of Glenview Park, Tallaght.

She is survived by her loving husband John, children Stuart, John, Ian and Bernadette, daughters-in-law Evelyn, Lorna and Trish, son-in-law Yegor, grandchildren Martin, Sean, Patrick, Daniel, Jack, Sam, Max, Isabelle, Olivia, Anna, Ezra and Luna, sisters Cecilia, Sandra, Pauline and Deirdre, brothers Noel, Paul and Brian, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. 

Bernadette will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Funeral Mass took place on Thursday, June 13, in St Mary’s Priory, Tallaght Village, at 11am followed by burial in Newlands Cross Cemetery. Condolences are extended to Bernadette's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Solas Cancer Support Centre

Free professional support services are available to those affected by cancer, their families and carers in the Waterford and West Waterford area. Men's Support Group

The Men's Support Group (Solas Centre) is facilitated and supported by a male counsellor. The activities include outdoor initiative including gardening, excursions, leisure interests. The group meets every Tuesday throughout the year from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The Solas Waterford Choir meets on Tuesdays from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.

Solas Retreat

The Solas Retreat for bereaved clients will take place at Mount Congreve will take place on Wednesday, June 27, from 9.45am to 2pm.

Men's Health Week

For Men’s Health Week, Waterford Sports Partnership is teaming up with the Men's Development Network for a refreshing walk followed by a Health & Wellbeing Workshop.

The event will take place on Thursday, June 13, at 10.30am or 6.30pm and the location will be from the People's Park, main gate. 

Whether you’re a seasoned walker or just fancy a stroll, come along for a bit of exercise, some craic, and a chance to support each other’s health and well-being.

St Joseph, St Benildus & St Mary's Church

The annual Cemetery Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner, will take place on Thursday, June 20, at 7.30pm.

Drivers Wanted

Volunteers required to drive a van one to two hours per week for Little Nellie’s Baby Bank.

Waterford Central Library

The launch of an illustrated collection of minimalist poetry titled, 'View from my Window', written by Ger Rogers and illustrated by Anne McDonnell, will take place on Saturday, June 22, in Central Library, Lady Lane at 3pm. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend and no booking is required.

Board Games

Board game take place on Saturdays at Central Library. Drop in for some family time playing board games every Saturday morning, from 10am to 12pm. All are welcome and those under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Ardkeen Library

Join Gráinne Kennedy, Waterford City & County Council’s, Climate Action Co-ordinator, for an informative talk on the Council’s Climate Team and what climate change will mean for Waterford, in Ardkeen Library on Tuesday, June 25, at 6.30pm.

Those in attendance will hear about the challenges we face in addition to exciting innovations and projects planned with regard to shaping a sustainable future for Waterford.

Reading Adventure

Waterford Library Service is running a Summer Stars Reading Adventure in all library branches at the moment.

The initiative will run until August 31, and each child is invited to register for the adventure at any library and will be given a Summer Stars Reading Card to record and track their progress. At the end of the adventure, children return their reading card to their local Library. Waterford Library staff will visit schools in October to present the children with their Summer Stars medal and certificate of achievement.

Baby and Me Group

A Baby and Me Group meets on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 12pm, at Ardkeen Library. Children under 12 years must be accompanied and supervised in the library by a parent/guardian drop in all welcome.

Tales and Rhymes

Tales and Rhymes takes place in Ardkeen Library on Fridays from 10.30am to 12pm. Children under 12 years must be accompanied and supervised in the library by a parent/guardian. All are welcome.

Draughts Club

Ardkeen Library is the location of a Draughts Club for adults on Thursdays at 10.30am. Why not drop in and everyone is welcome to attend.
