A big thank you to Davey Farrell from Tramore AFC for cutting the grass at the picnic area for Tramore Tidy Towns, as has been done for years, it shows community spirit at its finest. Some beautiful sights of the lovely blooms, which are enjoying the view from the top of Gallwey's Hill at this time of the year. The area has been immaculately maintained by Tramore Tidy Towns volunteers all year round. It really has become one of the most restful spots in the town with its lovely seating, perfect to enjoy the view across the bay before you set off on the next leg of whatever journey you may be taking. It is a true reflection of all of the care and dedication you have put into the area.
On Tuesday, June 24, Patrick Heffernan passed peacefully at the Mater Hospital Dublin, surrounded by his loving family. Late of Tramore and formerly of Dunhill, he will be sadly missed by his brother Stephen, his sister Joanie and his sister-in-law Ann. His Reposal and Prayer Service was held at Falconer Funeral Home, Riverstown, Tramore, on July 2. His Funeral Cortege walked from the funeral home to St. Declan's Cemetery where he was laid to rest.
Tramore Community First Responders are volunteers trained to attend specific emergency calls locally. Dispatched simultaneously with the ambulance service upon a 999/112 call, they play a vital role in stabilizing patients until the National Ambulance Service arrives, thanks to their proximity. This initiative is facilitated by the Tramore Unit of the Order of Malta, a recognized training institute by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Council, using the Cardiac First Response programme for life support training. Interested volunteers over 18 years old can contact Eoin Hewison at 083 8212874 or tramore@orderofmalta.ie. No experience is necessary as training is provided, but a full driving license is required. The Tramore Community First Responder group has been providing lifesaving interventions to Tramore and surrounding areas for over 15 years.
Huge congratulations to our club member Star Hutu who graduated from Templemore on Friday. Best of luck in her new career from all at Tramore Taekwondo.
The number of runners continue to rise for the Tramore Parkrun which is fantastic. The event continues every Saturday morning at 9.30, starting on the Promenade by the public toilets. It is very attractive to the casual jogger/walker or if you just want to get out and run for fun. There are over 150 parkruns in the country, which are free, community events where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate. Parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning. Parkrun is positive, welcoming, and inclusive, there is no time limit, and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along. The SETU Arena in Carriganore also hosts a parkrun on Saturday morning at 9.30am.
The Tramore Community Care Meals on Wheels are urgently looking for volunteer drivers to help with the delivery of meals.
