A teen girls adventure walk will take place in Glenshelane Woods
The annual graveyard mass at St Mary’s Church, Touraneena, will be held this year on Wednesday, August 14, at 7pm. There will also be a collection on the night towards the upkeep of the graveyard.
The Sliabh gCua lotto numbers last Sunday night were 2,9,19 and there was no winner. The 5 x €20 winners were: Thomas Keane, Donagh Condon, Caoimhe Condon, Sheila Phelan and Bernie Blaney. The promoter’s prize was won by Dunne’s Bar. Next week’s draw will be for a lotto jackpot of €600.
We extend our sympathy to the Fraher family on the recent passing of Liam Fraher, Kilbrien, Ballinamult. Liam was predeceased by his wife Chris, brothers Jackie and Dan, sisters Lena, Margo Alice, Sr. Eugine and Mary-Ann, and by his parents William and Rita. We extend our sincere sympathy to his son Paul, daughter-in-law Olivia, grandchildren Emily, Louie and Hollie, brother Paddy, sisters-in-law Peg, Nellie and Nora, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Funeral mass for Liam was in St Patrick’s Church, Kilbrien, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May Liam rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

The Nire Parish Council is holding a sponsored walk on Friday, August 2, at 7.30pm from the Nire Hall to the layby and back. On return, courtesy of the local scouts, there will be a BBQ. If you don’t have a sponsor card you are also welcome to join us on the night, the fee for walkers without cards is €10. All are welcome.
Looking for a midweek adventure? Waterford Sports Partnership is holding a fun 5km walk for teenage girls in Glenshelane Woods on Thursday, August 15, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The walk will be led by a qualified instructor from the ISSARD (Ireland’s specialist search and rescue dogs) team. Participants will get an introduction to basic navigation skills and a special demo with their amazing trained search and rescue dogs.
