Local Notes: Sympathies, Riddle of the Week, local lotto and concern over dumping

Concern has been expressed over the improper dumping at the Touraneena bring bank

Sympathy

We extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to the Tobin family on the sudden and tragic passing of their beloved 12-year-old daughter, Freya Tobin, Liam Lynch Terrace, Newcastle. Freya was predeceased by her Nanna Laura. She will be deeply missed by her mother Shannen, father Eddie and his family, brothers Grayson and Eddie, sister Stephanie Lee, grandparents Nanna Triona and her partner Tom, Grandad OJ and his partner Colleen, uncles Dylan and his partner Ericka, uncle Keith and his partner Sarah Jane, uncle Emmet and partner Devina, uncle Alan, aunt Amber, grand-aunts, grand-uncles, cousins, extended family and her many friends especially her best friends Sean, Emily, and Charlotte. Requiem Mass for Freya was held in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Newcastle, followed by burial in the new cemetery at Mollough. May Freya’s gentle soul rest in peace with the angels.

Improper Dumping

There is absolutely no excuse for the recent dumping of clothing at the Touraneena Bring Bank station. This kind of irresponsible behaviour is deeply disheartening, particularly for the many volunteers and community members who work tirelessly to keep our village clean and litter free. Bring Banks are for the recycling of glass and clothes which are meant to be ‘put inside’ the bins, not outside. If you find that a bring bank is full, overflowing, or affected by litter, please report it to Waterford City and County Council by emailing contact@waterfordcouncil.ie or calling 0818102020. Thanks to new sensors installed in bottle banks across County Waterford, it is now possible to check how full each bring bank is before visiting. You can view the map, find your nearest bring bank and see what materials are accepted at each site by visiting: https://bringbanks.waterfordcouncil.ie Let’s continue working together to protect and respect our shared environment.

Riddle For The Week

Last week’s riddle was: When you stop to look, you can always see me. But if you try to touch me, you can never feel me. Although you walk towards me, I remain the same distance from you. What am I?

Answer: The Horizon.

This week’s riddle is: What do the numbers 11, 69 and 88 all have in common.
