The appointment of Tramore’s, Stephen Kent as the new CEO of the CIÉ Group is being welcomed in the south-east, with the former Bus Éireann chief having overseen major service expansion, passenger growth and the rollout of Ireland’s first fully electric regional city bus network during his tenure. Mr Kent, who previously worked with Waterford Crystal, brings strong regional and public transport experience to the role at a time of growing demand for sustainable mobility, a focus that is expected to benefit communities such as Tramore through improved integration and delivery of public transport services.
The passing has taken place of Louise Musante (née: Ogle), late of San Mateo, California and formerly of Tramore, Co. Waterford. Louise passed peacefully at Mills-Peninsula Medical Centre after a long and courageously borne illness. She was predeceased by her sister Claire, brother-in-law Kelly, and mother-in-law Marilyn. Louise was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her sorrowing family: her husband Michael; her children Emilia, Cristina, James and David; her parents Noel and Cecilia; her father-in-law John; her brothers and sisters Myles, Paul, Cecilia and Grace; her sisters-in-law Helena and Deirdre; her brothers-in-law Denis and Conor; her nieces and nephews Sofia, Anna, Lily-Kate, Michael, Claire, Emma, Eli, Alexander, Finn and Juliette; her extended family, neighbours and her many friends in Ireland and America. A vigil service was held for Louise on Friday, on January 2, followed by a memorial service and Requiem Mass on Saturday, January 3rd. Both services took place at Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s Funeral Home, 977 South El Camino Real, California.
Grief is something we all experience at different times in our lives and it can often feel very lonely. Everyone’s experience of loss is different, but no one should have to face grief on their own. If you or someone you know is grieving, support is available in a calm and understanding setting. A Grief Support Group will be meeting in Tramore on Saturday, January 17th, in the Tramore Coastguard Centre from 10.30am to 11.30am . This group provides a welcoming space to come together, to listen or to share, and to connect with others who understand the journey of loss. You are welcome to come as you are — whether you wish to talk, listen, or simply spend time in the company of others who truly get it.

Tramore GAA Club Secretary and long-serving club member Declan Walsh recently celebrated 30 years of employment with Keltec Engineering on the Cork Road, Waterford, marking the milestone before Christmas. Highly regarded within the company, Declan is described as the heartbeat of the firm, where he holds the prestigious position of General Manager. Originally from Slieverue, Declan now resides in Ballycarnane Woods with his wife Margaret and their children, Nathan, Isabelle, Alishia and Alex. He is also a hugely valued and dedicated member of Micheál MacCraith GAA Club, where his commitment and contribution over the years are greatly appreciated.
Tramore Eco Group enjoyed another productive and pleasant morning beach clean last week, focusing on removing tiny fragments of broken plastic and discarded fishing rope from the shoreline. The effort was rewarded with well-earned coffee and cake at Molly’s afterwards. It was especially encouraging to welcome a few new volunteers to the group. Anyone interested in helping to keep Tramore’s beach clean is very welcome to join in — the group meets every Wednesday at 11am outside Molly’s. No experience required, just a willingness to lend a hand.
