Recently, in the early hours of Sunday morning, while most residents were enjoying an extra hour of rest due to the clock change, volunteers from the Tramore Lifeboat RNLI were called into action. At approximately 3.20am, pagers sounded, prompting a swift response from the dedicated lifeboat crew. Within minutes, the lifeboat was launched into the darkness to conduct a search operation along Tramore Beach. The mission was stood down shortly after it began, and the crew returned safely to the station. Local emergency services also responded to the incident, ensuring a coordinated and efficient effort. The RNLI praised its volunteers for their unwavering commitment and readiness to respond at any hour, highlighting their motto: “On call 25 hours a day, 365 days a year.” No further details about the nature of the callout have been released at this time.

Tramore Lifeboat RNLI volunteer Ward Griffin successfully passed his Tier 2 crew assessment under RNLI Trainer Assessor Dean Hegarty. Ward demonstrated strong competence across all core crew tasks, including launch and recovery, communications, navigation, and boat handling. Achieving Tier 2 status reflects steady commitment, regular training, and a solid grasp of RNLI operational procedures. Special thanks to our helms for their dedication to crew development and to our shore crew for their ongoing support.

As the darker evenings settle in and the chill of winter begins to bite, loneliness and isolation can quietly grow in our community - especially among those who may not be easily seen or heard. To help combat this hidden issue, the Revive Café in Tramore is opening its doors every Thursday to offer a warm, safe, and welcoming space for anyone in need of connection. The initiative aims to create a fulfilling environment where friendships can blossom over a simple cup of tea. Organisers are especially keen to reach out to men and senior citizens, who may be less likely to seek out social spaces but could benefit greatly from the companionship offered. If you know someone who might appreciate a friendly chat and a warm drink, consider inviting them along - or better yet, accompany them yourself. A small gesture could make a big difference. Booking is essential. To reserve a spot or learn more, call 087 2472005. Let’s work together to brighten the darker days and ensure no one in Tramore feels alone.
