Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Saturday, February 15, of Mr. Shay Cummins, 9 Chestnut Close, Viewmount, Waterford / Kilkenny. Predeceased by his loving son Anthony, sister Marie and nephew Andrew, he is survived by his loving and heartbroken wife Cathy, son Lee, daughter-in-law Aine, sister Bernie, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, work colleagues at WWETB, great neighbours and friends. Shay will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family great neighbours and friends. Condolences are extended to Shay's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace Bereavement.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Monday, February 17, of Mrs. Breda O'Donoghue (nee: Ware) St. Alphonsus Road, Waterford. Predeceased by her loving husband Tom, she is survived by her loving children Gillian, Liam, Ciara and John, daughters-in-law Angela and Tracy, son-in-law Robert, sister Mavis, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Breda will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours, and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Thursday, February 20, in St. Joseph & St. Benildus Church, Newtown, Waterford at 10.30am, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ballygunner, Waterford. Condolences are extended to Breda's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Songs of Praise

St. Joseph & Benildus Church Parish Choir joined with 14 choirs from all over the diocese to perform 'Songs of Praise, Songs of Hope', on Sunday, February 16, in Waterford Cathedral to mark the Jubilee Year of Hope. Congratulations to all involved in this very moving service which raised money for Waterford Samaritans and the Cathedral’s music education programme. A particularly moving hymn was, 'Pilgrims of Hope', the hymn composed especially for the Jubilee Year 2025. Ballygunner Celebrating 200 Years

St. Mary's Church, Ballygunner, is celebrating 200 years with a number of planned events during the week beginning March 24, and concluding with Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, March 30, celebrated by Bishop Cullinan. We are looking for any old photos of the Knockboy/Ballygunner area, St Mary’s Church - weddings, baptisms, communions, old school photos etc that you would be happy to have displayed in the church and possibly printed in the Mass/ souvenir booklet.
