Local Notes: Solas choir, men's health and volunteers needed

The death sadly occurred on Saturday, June 1, of Mrs. Catherine Kate Curran (née: Daniels), Kilmacleague Cross, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford and formerly of Merrion Road, Dublin.
She is survived by her loving husband Peter, sons Daniel, Stephen and Anthony, her adoring grandchildren Jason, Alissa, Ryan, Ethan and Liam.
She will be fondly remembered by her daughters-in-law Sonya, Elaine and Bailey, sisters Gillian. B and Eileen, her sisters-in-law Nora and Barbara and brothers-in-law Donald, Colman, Morgan and Hasan, also nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Catherine will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family and friends.
Requiem Mass took place on Monday, June 3, at 12 noon followed by burial immediately afterwards in Carbally New Cemetery.
Condolences are extended to Catherine's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
The death sadly occurred on Tuesday, June 4, of Mr. Gerard Colgan, late of The Sycamores, The Dunmore Road, Waterford City, formerly of Limerick City.
He is survived by his Loving and heartbroken wife Brenda, loving children Eric and Lianne, his adoring grandchildren Jack, Conor and Eoin; his sister Pauline, Eric's fiancé Amy; all his sisters and brothers-in-law and all his nieces, nephews.
Gerard will be forever missed by all his relatives, extended family, wonderful neighbours and many, many friends.
Requiem Mass took place on Friday, June 7, at 12 noon in St. Patrick's Church, Limerick City.
Immediately afterwards as per his wishes, Gerard's cremation service took place at 2pm in Shannon Crematorium, Illaunmanagh, Shannon, Co. Clare. Condolences are extended to Gerard's family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Formerly of Slievekeale Road and late of The Iron Foundry and Clover Meats. Predeceased by his loving wives Patty (Dunphy) and Alice (O’Sullivan), son's Baby Padraig, Eoin and Kevin, his parents Sarah and Pat.
He is survived by his loving children Deirdre, Liam, Enda, Cláirín and Shea, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren Patricia, Sinead, Daire, Rory, Adam, Brian, Will, Ryan, Julia, Shannon, Elliott and Morgan, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
William will be sadly missed by all his family, relatives, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Friday at 11 am in St. Mary's Church, Ballygunner. Cremation will take place privately.

The men’s support group is facilitated and supported by a male counsellor. Activities of interest include gardening, excursions, leisure interests. The group meets every Tuesday throughout the year from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The Solas Retreat at Mount Congreve will take place on Wednesday, June 27, for bereaved clients from 9.45am to 2pm.

Volunteers drivers wanted for Little Nellie’s Baby Bank required to drive a van for one to two hours per week.
The bank provides material support to mothers and families in need.

This is a dance class for children who love to move and be creative. The hour will be full of games and great songs to get your child to express themselves exercise and have fun through dance. Waterford Library Service will run the Summer Stars Reading Adventure in all library branches during the summer from now until August 31.
Each child is invited to register for the adventure at any library and will be given a Summer Stars Reading Card to record and track their progress. At the end of the adventure, children return their reading card to their local Library. Waterford Library staff will visit schools in October to present the children with their Summer Stars medal and certificate of achievement.
A Baby and Me Group meets on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 12pm in Ardkeen Library. Children under 12 years must be accompanied and supervised in the library by a parent/guardian. Drop in and everyone is welcome.
