Local Notes: Social dancing, text alert scheme and fun times ahead in Gealach Gorm Theatre

There was no winner for this week’s lotto so it rolls over until next week with a jackpot of €2,050. The lucky numbers pulled were 4, 5, 9 and 15. Tommy Hennessy, Sam Delahunty and Breda Cowman were the winners of match three numbers. Congratulations.
The Community Text Alert Service is still ongoing and open to any member of the public to join. Some messages that the group send out include notifications from the Gardaí, Met Eireann and others which help to keep the community informed. Kill Action Group is a registered provider for the Senior Alert Scheme which provides a personal monitored alarm for those aged 65 and over, living alone or with another person who meets the eligibility criteria and residing within the area.
The alarm can be worn as a pendant or on the wrist like a watch. When pressed a call is sent to a 24-hour monitoring centre. The equipment is free, however, there is a fee for monitoring the alarm.

Last week, Peter Burke entertained a fantastic crowd at Wednesday night dancing in Kill Community Centre. This week, Glen Flynn will take to the stage at Kill on Wednesday, June 19 so mark Wednesday night dancing 9pm to 11.30pm in your calendar. Complementary tea/coffee and sweet treat will also be served so come and join in the fun.
Last week, Cathal and Teddy Barry entertained a lively crowd at Kill Community Centre. Everyone enjoyed the great atmosphere and the next to take to the stage will be Checkers, on June 23.
Social dancing begins at 3pm and finishes at 6pm. Kill Community Centre guarantees a great afternoon of great music and refreshments. So why not put on your dancing shoes and join in the fun.
Up next in the Gealach Gorm Theatre will be the hilarious show, 'The Parish', which will be staged on Saturday, July 13, at 8pm, in conjunction with the Comeragh Wilds Festival.
