A big thank you to our great Council workers, Ray and his great team, who have been putting in some serious hours around the town to help keep the place spick and span. We would particularly like to highlight the tremendous work they are doing in Riverstown over the last couple of weeks, especially their lovely landscaping efforts, which will in time become a beautiful Rose Garden. The area has had a lovely lift, and your Tramore Tidy Towns volunteers will be tending to and adding to it in the future.
Congratulations to 36th Waterford Tramore Bay Scout Group cubs for winning the county cub challenge recently. Just reward for all their hard work. They also added the bases and campcraft award to their credit. Amazing. Congrats to the other cub team for winning the Spirit of the Camp award.
The International Kwaidan Exhibition is coming to Tramore in a few weeks, to the Coastguard Cultural Centre in conjunction with Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens Tramore. Kwaidan, by Patrick Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904), was published in 1904. The exhibition features the works of 40 artists based in Ireland and Japan who have been inspired by Kwaidan. Their interpretations are presented in print and photographic form. Kwaidan Exhibition is touring across the world until 2025. Updates to follow soon.
Another great turnout of volunteers for the beach clean, saving our fish and birds from eating the little bits of plastic, rope, balloons, cigarette butts, etc. Also having chats and laughs along the way. We meet at 11am Wednesday outside Molly’s if you would like to help any week – we have pickers and bags. The effort needs to be kept up in order to play a part in getting the Blue Flag back again.
Now that the dust has settled after a super weekend in Tramore, the organisers have a few people to thank.
