Book Launch

'St. Paul’s, Lisduggan – The History', was successfully launched at The Parish Centre recently. Bishop Phoncie Cullinan, the Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr Jason Murphy were among those in attendance. The publication tells in a myriad ways, the story of our parish community, from its beginnings to the present day. It should stand as a tribute to all who played a part in the formation of the parish. Full of memories of the development of the parish over the years.

Community Support

Larchville/Lisduggan Residents Association, The Knights Templar Parish Restoration Project, and Plant the Parish wish to thank most sincerely the local community for their support for their recent fund raising event in Lisduggan Shopping Centre. Great appreciation goes to the many families who donated toys, which were then refurbished by the association and passed on to children who were delighted to receive them. Many thanks to the volunteers who manned the stand in the shopping centre, gave of their time bringing the various items and displaying them for sale. Everything was sold by donation only and the funds collected will all be used wisely by the above organisations. There are no overheads and all money goes to the organisations who look after our area so well. Well done all.

Anniversary

In loving remembrance of Breda Collins, Comeragh Green, Lismore Lawn, whose anniversary occurs at this time. Breda was very involved in the community and was a Minister of the Eucharist in St Paul’s Church. She was also the life and soul of St Paul’s Scout Group and led the Beavers for over 40 years. Breda was also part of the National Training Team with the Scouts. Hundreds of leaders owe their excellent training to her. Always remembered by her husband Billy Collins and her daughters Jessica, Ellen and Catriona and her three grand-children. She was daughter of Denny and Eileen Gleeson and sister to Catherine, Eleanor, Ann, Angela and brother John. Her family, friends and Scouting Ireland came out in force for her recent anniversary Mass. The parish, the community and Scouting Ireland are far poorer for her passing. Ar dheis De go raigh a h-anam delis.

Christmas Dinner

The annual Christmas Day dinner for those in need, under the auspices of the Knights of St Columbanus, will take place as usual at 12.30pm in St. Joseph’s School, Parnell St Waterford. The function has now been running without a break for well over 70 years. Anyone, and particularly those who are far from home, who would not otherwise enjoy a Christmas dinner on that day will be very welcome. Just turn up at 12.30pm. The dinner is of course completely free to the men and women attending.

Remembrance

The Collins family, Larchville, remember especially at this time their daughters Mary, Melissa, Sarah and Kelly and wish them a happy Christmas in Heaven. The girls were always smiling and loved a good party and to sing and dance. They loved arts and crafts and their mother Teresa still has some lovely items made by them. The girls are always remembered for making everyone smile.
