GMA Spirit Cup Final 2025

Heartbreak for Waterford in Master’s Spirit Cup All-Ireland Final: Waterford were incredibly unfortunate last Saturday in the All-Ireland Final held in Athlone. In a thrilling encounter against Derry, Waterford delivered an outstanding performance showcasing grit, determination, and skill.

With just one minute left on the clock, the sides were level, Waterford 1-11, Derry 0-14. However, a late point from Derry proved to be the decider, snatching victory and the title for the Ulster side in dramatic fashion.

Despite the narrow loss, Waterford can hold their heads high. Special recognition goes to our two local players, Dennis Coffey and David Whelan, both of whom have been standout footballers for both club and county over the decades and who once again did their county proud.

National Ploughing Championships 2025

A huge well done to Jimmy Cotter on his fantastic achievement in claiming third place in the Intermediate Reversible Plough Class.

Jimmy put in a strong performance, holding off tough competition from Dermot Ryan (Offaly) and Tom Lonergan (Tipperary South) to secure his well-deserved spot on the podium. A great result, well done, Jimmy.

Riddle For The Week

Last week’s riddle was: There are 10 people in an empty, square room. Each person has full sight of the entire room and everyone in it without turning his head or body or moving in any way (other than the eyes). Where can you place an apple so that all but one person can see it?

Answer: Place the apple on one person’s head.

This week’s riddle is: What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and grey when you throw it away?

Answer in this column next week.
