The Loose Rock situation, which local Cllr Declan Barry raised several times at Council meetings, and was raised back in 1988 by the late John Carey Fine Gael Cllr, who had two chains fitted by the Council then.
In the meantime, one of the chains broke loose, and Cllr Barry has been informed that with regard to the ongoing situation a senior Engineer from Waterford Council told him that Lord Waterford, the owners of the hill, told them last week that he has been on to a contractor to carry out the repairs and has been told that work will start shortly on the large Rock and finished by end of May.
It is hoped by residents that a permanent solution to the situation will be forthcoming sooner rather than later.
No problem in starting off this week with the faultless display by Waterford senior hurlers over Clare, the All Ireland Champions in the Munster Championship in Walsh Park on Sunday week last, including our own Mark Fitzgerald in top form, winning by eight points in the end after playing with breeze in the first half and ahead by three points.
Final score Waterford 2.23 to 21 points.
