Revive Tramore, the brainchild of resident Suzie Duffin, is a community-led project dedicated to promoting sustainability and reducing waste in Tramore. In recent weeks, the initiative hosted a number of engaging events that encourage people to reuse, recycle, and rethink their consumption habits. One of the most popular features has been the Swap Shops, where locals can bring along items they no longer need and exchange them for something new-to-them, completely free of charge. This 'give and take' system helps keep usable goods out of landfills while giving them a second life in the community. Building on that success, Revive Tramore has now introduced a Re-turn Bin in the Riverstown area. If you have any clean, empty plastic bottles or cans, you’re encouraged to bag them up and drop them over Suzie’s gate at (X91 Y2E5). Every bottle or can placed in the Re-turn Bin will be recycled through Ireland’s deposit return scheme, and 100 per cent of the money collected will go directly back into local community projects.

As part of Heritage Week, on Saturday, August 23, from 11am to 1pm, join us in Newtown Woods, Newtown, Tramore, for an exploration of the small creatures that live in a freshwater stream. By observing which species are present or absent, we can determine the level of contamination in the stream water. We will collect samples from the stream and using the Citizen Science Streams Index, search for the 'Good Guys',” which need clean water to survive, and the “Bad Guys,” which can tolerate polluted water. Participants will also help identify other small creatures that live in the streambed. For more information, contact Tramore Eco Group at 087 908 1035 or tramoreecogroup@gmail.com.
