Local Notes: Inaugural Darkness into Light walk raises much-needed funds

Some of the many early morning risers supporting Darkness into Light 2024 in Ballymacarbry.

Darkness into Light

What an incredible morning at our annual Darkness Into Light walk in Ballymacarbry Community Centre – our first as an official Darkness Into Light location! On Saturday, May 4, we not only welcomed the sunrise together but also raised much-needed funds for Pieta House. With these funds, our community is helping to support vital services for those affected by suicide and self-harm. Every step participants took in the early morning hours was a step towards hope and healing in our community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, donated and supported this cause! Check out all the photos on our social media and don’t forget, it is not too late to donate! People can continue to donate online or can drop a donation into the community centre!

Comeragh & Knockmealdown Challenge Cycle

Registrations are flying for the Comeragh and Knockmealdown Challenge, which takes place on Sunday, July 14. This will be a fundraiser for our Panda Playground and is kindly being organised by a group of volunteers from Dungarvan Cycling Club. This leisure cycle event, which is part of the Cycling Munster Leisure Series, will consist of two routes: 50km and 110km. Open to all cycling enthusiasts and leisure cyclists, you can register for the event through the link on our social media pages. Ballymacarbry Community Centre will be the epicentre of the event and we’ll be looking for kind volunteers to be road marshals. Please contact us at the Community Centre on 086 0328467 if you would like to be involved.

Ballymac Bingo

It won’t be long now until our next ‘Ballymac Bingo’ event, which will take place on Friday, May 24. Clear your diaries and get down early!
