Local Notes: Hurling club news, parish Masses and community swims

The death took place on Thursday, June 13, of Mr Peter Lojewski, Dromina Woodstown, Passage East and formerly Germany, at University Hospital Waterford.
He was predeceased by his mother Gertrude, brother Werner and Angie’s son, Matthew. He is survived by his wife Angie, her son Ben and family, his sisters Ulla and Kristal, brother Lothar, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephew Thomas, grandniece Jessyka and other nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
His remains reposed at Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Waterford, on Thursday last with private cremation to follow. The family wish to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff at University Hospital Waterford who cared for Peter during his illness. Peter, in his time bought a yacht and circumnavigated the world in it and was a very interesting man to chat with. He is fondly remembered as a lovely gentleman by all his neighbours in Woodstown and all send his wife and family their deepest sympathy.
Mass Times in Crooke and Faithlegg Churches this week are: Thursday, June 27 - Crooke at 10am; Saturday, June 29 - Faithlegg at 6.30pm; Sunday Vigil, June30 - Crooke at 11.30am.
The planned annual Mass in Faithlegg Cemetery was held last Thursday week in Faithlegg Church instead.
In the presence of a practically full church the Mass was celebrated Rev Fr PJ Breen PP. After Mass, Fr Breen went outside to the cemetery and blessed all the graves. All who gathered had loved ones buried and came to pay their respects and remember all.

The under 14 team were most unlucky recently to lose out in the County Plate final to Mount Sion/St Saviour's in Walsh Park. They lost out by just one point, leading for the majority of the game.
Well done to the panel and mentors, Sean and John Tracey, Shane Lynch and Paudie Ceedon. The U13's beat An Ghaeltacht in Passage, on Wednesday last, by a point, in a fine game. Coming up arethe following fixtures: Wednesday, June 26 - U13, Passage play St Molleran's away at 7 pm; Thursday, June 27 - Eastern Hurling Junior C, Passage play Erin's Own /Sacred Heart in Poleberry at 7.30pm; Sunday, June 30 - Eastern Junior A, Passage meet St Mary's/East in Dunhill at 7pm, and Monday, July 1 - U15 Passage meet Cois Bhride in Passage at 7pm.
Well Kids goes ahead every Wednesday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for those aged between 4 and 6. The next fundraiser for the club coming will take place on Sunday, July 7 at 9am - a tour of County Wexford. More details next week.
