Community Awareness Survey

Portlaw GAA, Camogie and LGFA has established a healthy club subcommittee recently, with the aim of applying for GAA healthy club status when applications open in November. AS part of the preparation process, community mapping is required. This survey will allow us to gather valuable information as regards to insights into the community awareness of the GAA, Camogie and LGFA in our community. https://www.cognitoforms.com/PortlawGAAHealthCommittee/CommunityMappingSurveyAPortlawGAAHealthyClubInitiative

Portlaw GAA Club

Well done to our lads who booked their place in the U16 County Semi-Final after a great win over Dungarvan on a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-07. This result now means we have home advantage for the semi-final. We’d love to see as much support as possible, so let’s get behind the boys and pack the sideline. The club is also very proud of the U15 camogie players who had a brilliant year with the Waterford U15 team and we are very proud of them for representing Portlaw on an Inter-County level. The girls will still be lining out for Portlaw in the U15 and Minor Championships over the next few weeks.

Heritage Week

The Heritage Centre Committee would like to thank all those who supported our events over the course of Heritage Week. Both our walks were a success and we welcomed visitors every day we were open. Over the course of the week we had the pleasure of talking with former tannery workers, visitors from near and far, and even some from Australia.

We also had descendants of Kennedy O’Brien, first Managing Director of Irish Tanners, join us on Saturday, August 23, as we focused on the 40th anniversary of the closure of the tannery. It was also a pleasure to meet with members of the Knockanore Heritage & Historical Society as well as members of the Clonmel Historical & Archaeological Society.
