Sunflower Days will take place on June 7 and 8, when volunteers from all over the country will take to the streets in towns and villages to raise funds. Money raised in Waterford will go directly to Waterford Hospice and every euro raised locally will stay local. As part of this, a local fundraising Trad night has been arranged for the Cove Bar in Stradbally, on Friday, June 7. Local musicians and singers will gather to entertain and visiting musicians are also welcome to join in the fun. A great night assured all for a good cause.
Some recent results include: U11 C Cup: Stradbally 2 - Villa O. Congratulations to team and management.
Congratulations to Stradbally GAA U13 team who recently won the Division 1 Plate in Walsh Park. In a great game the boys edged out Abbeyside/Ballinacourty 1-9 to 0-3. Well done to all the boys and management.
We expect the Council road sweeper to the village on the morning of Tuesday, June 4, for a pre-judging clean-up. We would ask that everyone would please park their cars off the main street to facilitate the sweeper working. We expect the first judging around the first week of June and appeal to everyone in the community to co operate in having your area looking its very best.
As the market moved inside the Cove Bar again last Saturday morning the conversation was mostly about the weather and what had become of our glorious summer. As lots of cups of hot tea and scones were being devoured the stall holders were doing brisk business.
There was plenty of fresh products to chose from including fruit, veg, home baking, brown bread, scones, tarts, fancy buns, jams, relish, juices, cards, prints and knitwear. The GAA 50 50 draw was also available. You can preorder any of the products on sale in the market by calling Margaret on 087 6337215. Just drop by and pick up.
