Bereavement 

The death has sadly occurred on Sunday, October 12, 2025, of Mr. Seamus Quirke, Derrynane Close, Powerscourt Lawns, Waterford. Formerly of Lismore Park.

Predeceased by his loving parents Michael and Mary.

He is survived by his loving wife Hannah, son James, daughters Mary, Siobhán and Lizzie, daughter-in-law Suzy, sons-in-law Michael, Heath and Derek, grandchildren David, Jack, Sam, Grace, Tom, Harry, Jeff and Hannah, brothers Bill, John and Michael, sisters Kay and Geraldine nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours, friends and everyone at De La Salle GAA Club Waterford.

Seamus will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. 

Requiem Mass took place Thursday, October 16, in St. Paul’s Church, Lisduggan, at 11am, followed by burial in Gusserane cemetery, Co. Wexford. 

Condolences are extended to Seamus’ family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

The death has sadly occurred on Friday, October 10, 2025, of Mrs. Joan Cooper née Daly Coral Grove, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford.

Formerly of Ashbrook Grove, Limerick and Abbeyfeale. She is survived by her loving husband Pat, daughters Deirdre, Siobhán and Mary, sons-in-law Paul, Matt and Gus, grandchildren, Cillian, Aoibhe, Fergus, Denis, Fintan, Sarah, Seán, Ciara and Aoife, brothers Con, John and Stephen, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Joan will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. 

Requiem Mass took place in the Holy Cross Church, Killea, Dunmore East, on Monday, October 13, at 11am followed by private cremation.

Condolences are extended to Joan's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Young Waterford Playwright Award 2025 

Applications are now open for the Waterford Young Playwright 2025 award valued at €2500 for a young playwright aged between 15 - 30. 

Applicants must have either been born or are living in Waterford or have some connection to the city or county. 

Applicants will be invited to submit a ten-page extract from an existing play, along with an outline for a new work and an indication of how the Award would benefit them in their pursuit of a playwriting career. The Award will be administered by the Ted and Mary O’Regan Arts Bursary, and the closing date for receipt of submissions is Friday, October 31, at 5pm.
