Scarecrow Competition

SuperValu Tramore, in association with Tidy Towns, is hosting a Scarecrow Competition with the theme, 'Cigarette Ends No More – Help Us Stub Out Litter!'. There are five entry categories: Preschools, Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Clubs/Families and Shops/Businesses. Fantastic prizes are up for grabs, including SuperValu hampers and gift vouchers from Dooly’s, Tommy Farrell’s, and McCarthy’s. All entries must be handed into SuperValu Tramore by October 27. Judging will take place on October 29. Please ensure your scarecrow is clearly labelled with its name and your phone number. Winners must be present on judging day to collect their prizes - otherwise, the prize will be returned to the draw. Come join the fun and help keep Tramore tidy this Halloween season.

New Arrival

Congratulations to Colm Cremer, Tramore GAA football manager, and his wife, Rhona Hayden, on the recent birth of their son, Páidí. Their daughter now has a little brother to take care of. Páidí's grandparents, on Rhona’s side, are the Hayden family in Springmount. Grandad John and his Uncle John have given tremendous service to Tramore over many years.

Community Market

Following the success of the recent Community Market in Tramore, organisers have announced that another Community Market event will take place on Sunday, November 2, in Tramore GAA club. They are encouraging everyone to come along for food, crafts and community vibes. You can keep an eye out on their Facebook page for announcements of sellers who will be there on the day.

Sympathies

The death had occurred of Breda Wallace (McNamara) (née: Nugent), late of Sweetbriar Grove, Tramore, and formerly of Carrickbeg and Portlaw, Co. Waterford. Breda passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, October 19. She was predeceased by her husbands, Eddie and Michael, and by her brother, Pat. Breda was sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, John, Imelda, and Gareth; her adoring grandchildren, Jessica, Luke, Jaime, Charlie, and Séan; her brother, John, and her sister, Enda; her brother-in-law, Jim; her sisters-in-law, Colette and Helen; her son-in-law, Michael; and her daughters-in-law, Mary and Sinéad. Breda is fondly remembered by all her nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives, wonderful neighbours, and many friends. Breda’s reposal took place in Falconer’s Funeral Home, Riverstown, on Tuesday evening. Requiem Mass was on Wednesday morning in The Church of the Holy Cross, Tramore, Co. Waterford, after which Breda was laid to rest in the cemetery of St. Patrick’s Church, Portlaw, Co. Waterford.

Community Support

Tramore Meals on Wheels were absolutely delighted to receive a generous cheque for €3,000 from the wonderful Waterford Lions Club. The funds were raised from a musical evening the club hosted in the beautiful Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens, Tramore, in September. The event was a tremendous success, bringing together music, community spirit, and goodwill - all in support of local causes. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who helped make the evening possible - the organisers, performers, volunteers, and all those who attended and contributed so generously. Your support makes a real difference in our community. Martina Harte, President of the Waterford Lions Club, presented the cheque to Eamon Owens, Chairperson of Tramore Community Care - Meals on Wheels. This generous donation will go directly towards supporting our ongoing work in providing nutritious meals and vital social contact to those in need throughout the Tramore area.

GAA AGM

The AGM of Tramore GAA Club will be held in the club meeting room on Thursday, November 13, starting at 7pm sharp. All nominations and motions must be sent to Club Secretary, Colin Griffin, before 7pm on Thursday, November 6. A Notice of Motions form can be received from the secretary through tramore.waterford@gmail. ie and a nomination form for members of the Club Executive for 2026 can also be obtained via email. Please note that our Club Officers are not seeking re-election, therefore a new chairperson, secretary and treasurer will be required for 2026.
