Local Notes: For the Birds, creative writing award and an Easter egg hunt
The Carbally Community Centre annual Easter Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 4 at 3pm.
The death has sadly occurred on Sunday, March 15 of Mr Neil O’Flaherty, Ros Rua, Coxtown, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford.
Formerly of Western Terrace, Dungarvan, and Brattleboro, Vermont, Washington DC. Late of the School of Humanities, SETU, and World Learning, Washington DC.
Predeceased by his loving husband Carlos Sosa and parents Noreen and Michael.
He is survived by his loving nephew Marc, cousin Donal O’Donoghue, Joanne, Cyril, Megan and Kevin Daly, his very special friends Suzanne Walsh, Margaret Condon and Gonzalo Isturiz, and his many neighbours and friends.
Neil will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Requiem Mass took place on arrival in St Mary’s Parish Church, Dungarvan on Friday, April 17 at 11am, followed by burial of his ashes in the adjoining cemetery.
Condolences are extended to Neil’s family, relatives and friends.

The death has sadly occurred on Tuesday, March 17 of Mrs. Emma O’Connor (née Gilligan), The Avenue, Grantstown Village, Ballygunner, Waterford.
Predeceased by her loving husband James, parents and brothers.
She is survived by her loving son Kevin, daughters Angela and JacquâLynn, grandchildren Caroline and Katie, Caroline’s husband James, greatâgrandsons Riley, Mason and Conor, greatâgranddaughter LillyâRose, sister Anne, nieces, nephews, the Lynhan family, extended family, neighbours and friends. Emma will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Requiem Mass took place on Friday, March 20 in the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore at 10:00am, after which Emma was laid to rest in Clonminch Cemetery, Tullamore.

The death has sadly occurred on Tuesday, March 17 of Mrs. Bridget (Biddy) Elliott (née Kennedy), Cheekpoint, Co. Waterford.
Predeceased by her loving husband Willie, daughter Helena, sister Mary and brother Jim.
She is survived by her loving daughters Breda and Susan, sons William and David, grandchildren Karen, Siobháin, Gerard, David, Megan, Lyndsey, Emma, Lillie, Shelley, Daniel, Matthew, Michael, John and Sarah, greatâgrandchildren Sadie, Sonny, Helena, Harriett, Ada, Kate, John, Kim, Charlotte, Georgia, Éabha and Teddy, sister Catherine, sonsâinâlaw Gerard and Tom, daughtersâinâlaw Susan and Jacinta, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Bridget will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Requiem Mass took place on Monday, March 23 in St. Nicholas Church, Faithlegg, Co. Waterford at 10:30am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

The B Corridor Group are delighted to announce their next free event, For The Birds, taking place on Wednesday, March 25 at 7pm in Grow HQ on the Dunmore Road.
Local expert ecologist and wildlife photographer Denis Cullen will share his beautiful photography and knowledge on caring for the birds in your garden or housing estate. Susan Lee, Community Climate Action Officer, will outline climate action steps you can take and grants available.
Inspiring biodiversity actions from local housing estates will also be highlighted, along with a new photography competition, a free raffle of ecoâfriendly goodies and refreshments. All are welcome.

The Spinnaker presents a night with Penny Royal in aid of Carbally Community Centre on Saturday, April 11. Doors open at 7pm.
DJ Peter will play until late, with finger food and a raffle on the night.
Admission €12. Tickets are available from committee members and in The Spinnaker.
A free bus back to town will be provided at the end of the night.
