Local Notes: Community lotto, Gealach Gorm Theatre and social dancing

Social dancing is as popular as ever in Kill
There was no winner of this week’s lotto so it rolls over until next week with a jackpot of €2,600. The numbers pulled were 4, 16, 17 and 21. Congratulations to Ray Hennessy and Sean Phelan who matched three numbers.
Next up at the Gealach Gorm Theatre on Saturday, September 14, at 8pm will be 'Sugar' - a comedy with a big heart set in Mallow Sugar Factory prior to its closure. It was written and performed by Michael Patric ('An Cailin Ciuin', 'Smother' and 'Frontier'). Danyl Sweetnam describes his last days as an Irish Sugar employee. As much as he tries to stay on topic, he can't help veering off towards the 'craic' and taking us on a journey of hilarious shenanigans: "You must have the craic. I don't trust any fella who can't have d'aul craic". Not suitable for under 16’s. Michael trained at Dublin's Gaiety School of Acting and since then he has worked in Ireland and North America, in film, theatre, television, animation and radio. He has worked extensively in Irish Theatre. Tickets are now on sale at https://ie.powertik.com/events/sugar or contact 086 8569358.
Last week, Philip English entertained a fantastic crowd at Wednesday night dancing at Kill Community Centre. This week Pat Daly and Art Supple will entertain on September 4, when they take to the stage at Kill from 9pm to 11.30pm. Complementary tea/coffee and sweet treat will be available so come and join in the fun. Last week, Andy Feery kept the dancers busy at the centre. Everyone enjoyed the great atmosphere and danced away the afternoon. Next to take to the stage will be Muriel O’Connor and Fran Curry, on September 8. Social dancing begins at 3pm and finishes at 6pm. Kill Community Centre guarantees a great afternoon of great music and refreshments. So why not put on your dancing shoes and join in the fun.
