Irish Rail and BAM have announced that late night work is underway on the new rail line and preparations for demolishing the existing bridge over the railway at the east end of Sion Row, previously the entrance to the Docks and upgrading the second track. This project involves significant construction activity, including the installation of new rail infrastructure and the removal of the old bridge, which is necessary to accommodate the updated railway system. Due to the complexity and scale of the work, it will be conducted at night between the hours of 12.30am and 5.00am when trains are not running, until this Saturday night/ Sunday Morning, May 26. This schedule is intended to minimize disruption to daytime rail services and local traffic. However, residents and businesses in the vicinity should be aware that the construction will be very loud, potentially causing some nighttime disturbances. Irish Rail and BAM are committed to completing this essential infrastructure upgrade as efficiently as possible and apologize for any inconvenience caused during this period. They appreciate the community's patience and understanding as they work to improve the rail network. Updates and further details about the construction schedule and progress will be communicated through official channels to keep the public informed. The new railway station is due into operation in 2025, a very exciting time for the Ferrybank area.
