The death sadly occurred on Friday, May 3, of Margaret (Peg) Grant (nee: Barry), Pleasant Drive, Mount Pleasant, Waterford. Predeceased by her loving husband David, her parents Michael and Elizabeth, her sisters Madeline and May, she is survived by her loving children Sally, Patrick, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Laura, her grandchildren Cathy, Mary, Alastair, Abbie, Genevieve, Jessica, Calum, and Christopher and her great-grandchildren Emma and Jaimie, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, and her many friends. Margaret will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends, A Celebration of her Life service took place on Sunday, May 5, at 3 pm. Followed by Cremation in the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, at 10am on Monday, May 6. Condolences are extended to Margaret's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
The death took place on May 4, of Kevin (The Goat) Phelan, Barrack St, Waterford - a native of Harristown, Dunmore East. His remains reposed at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Waterford on Sunday with vigil prayers and rosary at 8pm. Kevin’ s Funeral Prayers took place in Thompson’s on Monday week last followed by burial in Killea Cemetery, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford. The family would like to thank the Staff of the Cedar Ward, University Hospital, Waterford for the wonderful care given to Kevin. Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Kitty and his sister Mary, he is survived by his wife Kathleen, children, Pat, Catherine, John, Terri and Méabh, daughter-in-law Mags, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, and many friends.
Waterford Cheshire is holding its Summer Car Boot Sale on John's Hill, Waterford (X91 HH97) on Sunday, June 9, from 10am to 2pm. Information Sessions on how to 'look good, feel better' will take place on Thursday, May 30, from 2pm to 4pm. A men's support group it's facilitated and supported by a male counsellor. It includes outdoor activities of interest such as gardening, excursions and leisure interests. The group meets every Tuesday throughout the year from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
The Solas Waterford Choir meets on Tuesdays from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
The Solas Cancer Support Centre Primary School Bereavement Programme for May is now open for registration. This free education programme will help guide teachers in supporting bereaved children in their schools and classrooms. The two-day online course is scheduled for Thursday, May 16 and Thursday, May 30. Ardkeen Library is holding a Coffee Morning for Mental Health Ireland's, ‘Hello, how are you day', at 10.30am on Wednesday, May 15. It's a drop in event with no booking required and all are welcome. A small conversation can make a big difference in someone's life.
