Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Thursday, October 3, of Mr William (Bill) Curtin (Director of Waterford Tool Company), 'Aisling', Dunmore Road, Waterford, and formerly the Cork Road, Waterford. Predeceased by his loving son Declan and daughter Lisa, he is survived by his loving wife Angela, children Sandra, Maria, Lorraine and David, sisters Margaret and Patti, brothers Austin and Vincent, sons-in-law Tony, Niall and Iain, daughter-in-law CY, grandchildren Rebecca, Aileen, Conor, Finlay, Toby, Ewan, Henry, Harriet, Hugo, Huntter, Arabelle and Ellyot, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. William (Bill) will be sadly missed by all his family, relatives. neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass was held on Sunday, October 6, in St. Joseph & Benildus Church, Newtown, Waterford at 9.30am, followed by burial in St Mary's Cemetery, Ballygunner, Waterford. Condolences are extended to William's (Bill) family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace .

The death sadly occurred on Sunday, October 6, of Mrs Kathleen (Kate) Phelan (née: Walsh), Harristown, Dunmore East, Co Waterford and formerly of Kilnagrange, Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford and late of St Monica's Ward, St Otteran’s Hospital, Waterford.

Predeceased by her loving husband Kevin and parents Pat and Kitty Walsh, she is survived by her loving children Pat, Catherine and Terri, grandchildren Maria, Michael, Tina, Shannon, Tamara, Dylan, Caithlyn and Jack, great-grandchildren Ada, Thaigh, Oisin, Ellen, Charlie, Leah, Conor, Ryan and Fionn, sisters, Alice, Biddy, Marie, Trisha and Helen, brothers Tom and Davy, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends. Kathleen will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday, October 8, in St Anne’s Church, Fews, Kilmacthomas, at 12noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Kathleen's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Sunday, October 6, of Mrs Mary Atkins (nee: Cullinane), Ballymountain, Ferrybank, Waterford and formerly of Liccaun, Dunmore East, Co Waterford. Predeceased by her loving husband Billy, brothers Davy, Jimmy and Neddy, and sister Josie. She is survived by her loving children Rita, Maria, Helen, Noel and Trisha, son-in-laws Gary and Damien, grandchildren, Colm, Lee, Nicole and Sophie, great-granddaughter Summer, brother John-Joe, sister-in-law Ann, brother-in-Law Tony, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Mary will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Thursday, October 10, at 1pm, in St Senan’s Church, Kilmacow, County Kilkenny, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Mary's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Bereavement

The death sadly occurred on Saturday, October 5, of Mrs Lilia Dwyer, late of Morrisson’s Road, Waterford / Passage East, Waterford. Predeceased by her loving husband Joe, she is survived by her loving son Francis, extended family neighbours and friends. Lilia will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place in St John The Baptist Church, on Thursday, October 10, at 11am, followed by burial afterwards in Crooke Cemetery. Condolences are extended to Lilia's family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Remembrance Service

University Hospital Waterford Maternity Service would like to invite all who have experienced pregnancy, infant or child loss to attend a service of remembrance on Sunday, October 27, at 4pm in Christchurch Cathedral, Cathedral Square, Waterford. All who have experienced pregnancy, infant or child loss are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

Children In Hospital

We are seeking play volunteers to support children and young people in Waterford University Hospital. Volunteers provide a space for fun and give them a positive experience. The next Irish Blood Foundation donor clinics will take in Waterford as follows: Woodlands Hotel, Waterford - Monday, October 14 to Thursday, October 17, from 3.50pm to 8.10pm and from Monday, October 21 to Wednesday, October 23 (from 3.50pm to 8.10pm. Writing Workshops

Waterford Libraries is delighted to again bring a series of free Writing Workshops to the people of Waterford. The programme will run until mid-December and gives participants an opportunity to attend courses in both Irish and English. The courses are free of charge open to people over 18 years of age resident anywhere in County Waterford. Application forms are also available at library desks.

Spooky Tunnel

The Waterford Spooky Tunnel experience at the Waterford Greenway will be in place for the public to enjoy from Friday, October 25 until Thursday, October 31, inclusive. This is a ‘walk through experience’ that promises to be a sight to behold for all age groups and best of all it’s free.

Crochet Workshop

St Joseph and Benildus Church Winter Crochet Workshop will be held at St Joseph and St Benildus Parish Centre. Taught by Olive Ruane, classes will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 12 and 19 and also on December 3, 10 and 17, from 11am to 12.30pm. The workshop will introduce participants to the basics of crochet and will be ideal for beginners. The cost will be €25 and please bring a 4mm crochet hook. Tarsus Scripture Series

Deepen your prayer life through four inspiring recorded lectures on Praying the Psalms, part of the Tarsus Scripture series. Meetings will be held on October 15, 29, and November 12 from 7.30pm to 9pm in the St. Joseph and St Benildus Parish Centre. The event is free and all are welcome. Youth Choir

Are you aged 13 to 18 and passionate about singing or playing an instrument? Join our youth choir. The choir performs once a month at the 9.30am Mass in St Joseph & St Benildus Church with rehearsals every second Wednesday at 5.30pm. Halloween Party

A Halloween Community Party will take place at Carbally Community Centre (X91 NW64) on Monday, October 28, from 5pm to 7pm. The event will include a disco, Halloween games, pumpkin-carving competition and scarecrow competition. There will also be tea/coffee, burgers and treats. Admission to the event will be €5 or €15 for families.

Men's Shed

Would you be interested in setting up and/or being part of a Men’s Shed in the Dunmore East area? An open public meeting to discuss the possibility will take place on Tuesday, October 22, at the Haven Hotel, Dunmore East at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend.

Ardkeen Library

Waterford's Geological Heritage will be focus of attention in Ardkeen Library on Tuesday, October 29, at 6.30pm. Join Robbie Galvin, Geologist from Waterford's Copper Coast Geopark, for an engaging talk on Waterford’s geological history. Discover how volcanic eruptions, glacial movements, and ancient rock formations shaped both the landscape and local communities. Whether you're a geology enthusiast or curious, this talk offers fascinating insights into Waterford’s natural heritage. Storytelling Group

Ardkeen Library will host a storytelling group with Tom Mullane Storytelling on Thursdays from 2pm. Can you tell a story? Let's get together to hear each other’s stories.
