The death has sadly occurred on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 of Mr Thomas (Tom) Sex, late of Leoville, Waterford City, formerly of Newbridge, Co Kildare. Tom was predeceased by his beloved parents Delia and William and his sister Cathryn. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife and best friend Ger; his adoring children Lena, Liz, Becky and LouLou; his cherished and beloved grandchildren Lucy, Grayson, Leo and Violet; his sisters Mary and Bernie; his brothers John and Bill; his mother-in-law Carmel; his son-in-law Arran and his daughters’ partners Conor and Hugh; and all his nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Tom will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Requiem Mass took place on Monday, May 18, at 10.30am in St Joseph’s and St Benildus Church, Newtown, Waterford City, after which Tom was laid to rest in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner. Condolences are extended to Tom’s family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
The death has sadly occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026 of Mr Arthur (Terry) Colclough, late of Williamstown Road, Waterford. Retired member of the Irish Army; served with the United Nations. Terry was predeceased by his loving sister Mary, and brothers Bernie, David, Frank, Chris and Sean. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret (Rita) and is much loved father of Yvonne, Warren, Tyrone and Belinda; his brother Paddy, sisters Bridget, Josephine and Susan; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and friends. Arthur will be sadly missed by all his relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Monday, May 18, in the Sacred Heart Church, The Folly, Waterford at 1pm, followed by burial in Listerlin Cemetery, Kilkenny. Condolences are extended to Arthur’s family, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.
The death has sadly occurred on Saturday, May 16, 2026 of Mrs Anne Hannon, née Burke, Graigaridda, Dunmore East, Co Waterford, formerly of Morrissons Road. Late of Harvey Printers and The Strand Hotel, Dunmore East. Anne was predeceased by her loving parents, sister Breda and brothers Ger and Dano. She is survived by her loving husband Edward, sons Edward and Andrew, daughters Tanya and Rachel, daughters-in-law Catriona and Aoife, son-in-law Craig, grandchildren Shane, Megan, Rebecca, Brooke, Holly, Finlay, Cody, Broghan and Farrah, brothers Paddy and John, brother-in-law Barry, sisters-in-law Margaret and Mary, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. Anne will be sadly missed by all her relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends. Anne’s humanist service took place on Wednesday, May 20, at 12 noon followed by private cremation. Condolences are extended to Anne’s family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
The death has sadly occurred on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 of Mrs Margaret (Rita) Power, née Keatley, late of Killea, Dunmore East, Co Waterford, formerly of Castledermot, Co Kildare and The Moorings, Maypark Lane, Waterford City. Rita was predeceased by her beloved parents Patrick and Bridget Keatley and her brothers Jack, Patrick and Ambrose. She is survived by her loving husband William; her son William (Bill); her daughter Victoria; her grandchildren Grant, Shannon, Edward and Gareth; her sister Mona Corcoran; her daughter-in-law Rebecca and her son-in-law Edward; and her extended family, relatives, neighbours and many friends. The Power family thanked the staff in Tramore Nursing Home for the excellent care and attention Rita received. Requiem Mass took place on Friday, May 22, at 11am in The Holy Cross Church, Killea, Dunmore East, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Rita’s family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
The death has sadly occurred on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 of Mrs Noeleen Saunders, née Kavanagh, late of Ardkeen Village, Waterford, formerly of Gorey, Co Wexford. Noeleen was predeceased by her loving husband Sean. She is survived by her loving children Niamh and Cormac and is grandmother of Cora and Oran. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Maureen and Stephanie, brother John, son-in-law Brent, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Requiem Mass took place on Friday, May 22, in St Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, Waterford at 11.30am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Condolences are extended to Noeleen’s family, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
Ireland’s annual Streetfeast is happening across Ireland at the end of May. A meet-up will take place on Thursday, May 28, at 10am in The Cove Bar, Dunmore Road. All are welcome.
In preparation for the Cemetery Mass in Ballygunner this June, volunteers are invited to help with a cemetery clean-up on Monday, June 1, at 10am. Bags will be provided but please bring your own tools. Please contact pastoralworkerjbm@gmail.com or the parish office.
The Annual Cemetery Mass at St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballygunner, will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 7.30pm. All are welcome. Please dress warmly as the evening can be chilly.
Exploring Our Sacred Universe is a four-week course through story, spirituality, science, creativity and contemplation. Thursdays from May 21 to June 11, 2026, from 7pm to 8.30pm in the parish centre. Facilitated by Cecily Maher. Course fee €40. Limited spaces. Please register via the parish office.
