There was great excitement in County Waterford recently when a community playground was officially opened.
The opening of the Panda Playground in Ballymacarbry is the result of the true community effort on the part of everyone in and around the locality.
The opening ceremony attracted a very large crowd to the community centre where, in addition to the playground itself, there was a range of attractions in place to keep every entertained throughout the afternoon including music, ice-creams, coffee, face-painting and party games.
Major fundraising drives have taken place throughout the community and the committee behind the initiative were praised locally for their hard work and dedication.
One of those in attendance commented: "It was wonderful to see so many people attend and the sense of pride in what has been achieved by the entire community was evident for all to see."
Local elected representatives were also in attendance including Minister Mary Butler, Senator John Cummins and Councillors Seanie Power and Niamh O’Donovan.
