Molumby extends his contract at West Brom until 2028

Waterford's Jayson Molumby has extended his contract at West Brom Albion until the summer of 2028.

Cappoquin native Jayson Molumby has pledged his immediate future to West Brom Albion after the midfielder has committed his future to the Midlands club by signing a contract extension which runs until the summer of 2028.

Molumby, who arrived at the Hawthorns back in 2021 on loan from Brighton, has made over 125 appearances for the Baggies where he has scored seven goals with the news of his commitment coming after a 1-1 draw against Swansea on Saturday.

The Republic of Ireland International initially joined on loan from Brighton, before completing a permanent transfer in May 2022, and he secured a new contract that will keep him at the club for another three years at least.

Molumby has played 23 Sky Bet Championship fixtures so far this term including a man of the match performance in their 1-1 Sky Sports televised game against Sheffield United, and the recent run of results have his side up to sixth in the Championship table.

Commenting on his decision to remain at the club, Molumby said: “I’ve been at the club since 2021 and it’s a place where I feel really happy. There are so many good people here who I love being around every single day and I’m delighted to be extending my contract.

“I’ve been pleased with my performances this season, but everyone knows I want to get even better, and I believe I’m on the right track to doing that here at Albion.

“We all want to be successful this season and I’m completely focused on giving everything I’ve got every week to help us achieve what we want to achieve.” West Brom Albion Sporting Director Andrew Nestor added: "Jayson’s play and commitment on the pitch has been important to the team and we are delighted to have agreed this new contract with him.

"We continue to move forward with our squad planning strategy that we began implementing in the Summer.

"Nothing has changed in that respect, and we want to ensure players like Jayson know they are a focal part of those plans. This new contract is recognition of the contribution he is making to the team."
