Brandon Deady hit a superb hat trick as Tycor defeated Seaview Celtic in the Munster Junior Shield played at Ozier Park on Sunday morning last. Celtic jumped into an early lead, but Tycor responded in spectacular fashion by hitting five goals to give them an uncatchable lead. Celtic scored the last goal of the game, but it was too little too late as Tycor moved into the next round.
Seaview Celtic went one up after only 17 minutes play. Eric Power worked himself into a good position behind the Tycor defence, and he crossed for Peter Ellickson, who stabbed the ball past Darragh Collopy in the Tycor goal.
However, their lead only lasted a minute as Tycor equalised on 18 minutes. Lennan Forsey played a clever pass into the run of Aaron Flavin, Donal Carey saved his shot, but Alex Walsh was alive to the rebound and he scored from six yards.
Two minutes later, on 20 minutes, Tycor took the lead, Aaron Flavin whipped in a corner kick, and Dean Troy came flying in to send a bullet header into the back of the net.
Tycor increased their lead with a third goal on 20 minutes, goalkeeper Darragh Collopy drove the ball downfield, and Brandon Deady beat the offside trap to lob the ball over the advancing Donal Carey and into the empty net.
Tycor continued to attack the Celtic goal, and goalkeeper Carey was forced into a couple of good saves from David Browne and Darragh Wall. At the other end, good link-up play by Peter Ellickson and Michael Queally kept Celtic in the game as an attacking force, but Adam Sutton at the back for Tycor kept the Celtic strikers at bay.
It was Celtic who were first out of the blocks for the start of the second half. At 50 minutes, Dylan Hennessey lined up a twenty-yard free kick, but Darragh Collopy was quick across his line to tip the ball over the bar.
Tycor counterattacked on 56 minutes when Alex Walsh played the ball over the top of the Celtic, and Brandon Deady raced clear, but Donal Carey advanced to save with his feet. On the hour mark, Tycor keeper Collopy was caught way off his line, but Peter Ellickson could only lift the ball over the crossbar. Celtic missed another chance on 67 minutes, Ellickson crossed to the far, but the inrushing Paddy Flavin couldn’t find the net. Tycor made Celtic pay for those missed chances as they hit two goals in five minutes. On 70 minutes, it was four-one. David Browne played the ball across the edge of the box, and Brandon Deady made no mistake with a fine low shot into the far corner.
Five minutes later, Deady completed his hat trick with the goal of the game. Darragh Wall played a corner kick to the far post, and Brandon Deady controlled the ball before sending a right-footed strike into the top corner of the net. Celtic scored the last goal of the game in the dying minutes. Eoghan Casey found space in the box and he scored from close range.
