Ryan Flynn, 13, from Dunhill, has been selected to represent Ireland on the international stage for a third time as he prepares to compete at the Coupe de l'Avenir in Quievrain, Belgium, this weekend, October 4 and 5.

The event showcases Europe’s most promising young motocross talents across the 65cc, 85cc and 125 & 250cc categories.

This will be Ryan's second time at the Coupe de l'Avenir, having previously represented Team Ireland in 2022. The Waterford teenager rode on his 65cc machine then, but three years later he is up competing at 85cc.

Ryan achieved another milestone in July of this year when he made his second appearance for his country at the Junior World MotoCross Championships in Romagné, France.

Ryan says it is a “massive achievement” and that he is “very honoured” to represent Ireland for the third time.

“It's all down to a lot of commitment, training and travelling hundreds of miles every week to practice and compete,” he said.

Team Ireland’s manager Wayne Garrett is a multiple Irish Champion himself. Now in his third year at the helm, Garrett has imparted all his own experience, wisdom and advice on this young Irish team.
