Dungarvan Rugby club are winners at the Munster Rugby awards

Dungarvan Rugby Club were one of the winners at the annual Munster awards, presented by Virgin Media, held at the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, Co. Limerick on Tuesday night as the Waterford club claimed the Club Mini Section of the Year award. During the 2023/24 season, Dungarvan hosted the Munster Minis Blitz, the largest blitz held in their history with everyone involved in the club working extremely hard to ensure its success. The club has seen a lot of growth in the number of girls playing rugby and they also have up to 140 Minis players registered with the club. It was a special night for the club as they were recognised for the hard work and dedication led by David Burke, Mini’s co-ordinator, and Rachel O’Connell women’s co-ordinator, along with the dedicated coaches, volunteers, committee, players, and their families.
The club were extremely grateful on the night to the mixed minis sponsors that include SuperValu, CTL, Muiri K Boutique, Anne Tobin Acorn Life and girls sponsor Michael Ryan of ‘The Railway Cottage’ Dungarvan took part in the IRFU Minis Festival in Dublin and they will also be hosting next season’s Aviva Minis blitz. 11 awards were presented to worthy recipients involved in professional and domestic rugby in Munster with Calvin Nash winning the Men’s player of the year and Maeve Og O’Leary named as the Women’s player of the year.
The Munster Senior Men’s and Women’s squad and management, which included Jack O’Donoghue, were all in attendance, joining domestic game volunteers in recognising and honouring rugby achievements across the province.
