The 5th Annual Johnny Matthews Golf Classic will take place in Faithlegg Golf Club on Saturday, 5th July 2025 from 7am- 4.30pm, raising support and awareness for 4 different charities – Autism Friendly Waterford, Cystic Fibrosis Waterford, Muscular Dystrophy Ireland, and Transplant Football Ireland. The response to date has been fantastic, which reflects the admiration and affection with which the Waterford Football Family and Golfing Family have for Johnny.

Faithlegg Golf Club has agreed to allocate 2 hours on Friday, 4th July, 2025, between 12-2pm for any group who may wish to participate in the event. The cost of a team of 3 is €120.00. The event is played as a “Champagne Scramble” with prizes for the longest drives on both the front nine (2nd) and back nine (18th), and closest to the pins on front nine (6th) and back nine (16th). Prizes for the best teams will be sponsored by Waterford FC, with a number of other prizes being available on the days. Friends and colleagues of Johnny will be turning out, with Brian Gardener and Syd Wallace returning from England to participate in the event.
