Limerick have beaten Cork in Division 1A of the National Hurling League.

Goals from Shane O'Brien, Cathal O'Neill and an Aidan O'Connor penalty helped the Treaty to a 3-19 to 20 point win at the Gaelic Grounds.

Galway took a big step towards remaining at the top table next year.

They smashed Kilkenny by 35 points to 17 in Salthill.

Dublin strolled to a 6-32 to 18-point win at home to Down in their Division 1B clash this evening.

John Hetherton scored two of the six goals.

The Republic of Ireland have equalised against the Netherlands in their World Cup qualifier this evening.

Katie McCabe's penalty has levelled things up to level it 1-1 in Utrecht.

Carla Ward's side is still searching for a first win of the campaign.

Elsewhere in that group, France and Poland are locked at 1-1.


Chelsea needed extra time to see off 10-man Wrexham in the FA Cup. 

The Blues fell behind twice before eventually emerging as 4-2 winners in Wales.

Arsenal beat Mansfield 2-1 earlier to progress to the quarter-finals.

Two Premier League sides are facing off tonight as Manchester City come up against Newcastle.

It's 1-1 there with a Savinho goal cancelling out the opener from Harvey Barnes.


There are two games down for decision in Men's football here at home.

In the Premier Division, Sligo Rovers are hosting Drogheda United and lead that one 1-0 in the second half.

Meanwhile, it's goalless in the game between Longford Town and UCD in the First Division.

Rugby

England's dismal Six Nations campaign continued with a 23-18 defeat to Italy in Rome.

It is the first time they've ever lost to the Italians and follows defeats to Scotland and Ireland.

But things are looking much better for the Scots, who kept their title hopes alive with a 50-40 victory over defending champions France.

Both of those teams are level at the top of the table with Ireland in third one point behind, going into the final weekend.


The Ireland under-20s got their third win of the Six Nations this evening.

They beat Wales 48-33 at Virgin Media Park in Cork.

The hosts already secured a bonus point in the first half. 


St Mary's College remain top of Division 1A of the Energia All-Ireland League.

The league leaders recorded a massive 59-12 win at home to UCD.

Second-placed Clontarf are just a point off Mary's, after edging Old Belvedere by 54 points to 51.

Cork Con missed a late conversion, handing Ballynahinch a 28-26 win.

Terenure were 40-31 winners at Nenagh Ormond,

And Lansdowne saw off Young Munster, winning 29-13.
