O’Regan and Carton in All-Star contention

Beth Carton left and Brianna O'Regan right have been nominated for Camogie All-Star awards.
De La Salle duo Brianna O’Regan and Beth Carton have been nominated for the 2024 PwC Camogie All Stars. The ceremony will take place in Croke Park on Friday, November 15.
O’Regan will go up against Cork’s Amy Lee and Sarah Healy from Galway for the number one jersey. The Waterford netminder produced three penalty saves against Clare, Limerick and Derry. O’Regan also stood out in the draw with Kilkenny as she denied Aoife Doyle and Miriam Walsh in one on ones. She nailed a monster free in the All Ireland quarter final defeat to Galway. This is her third All Star nomination.
Beth Carton is bidding for her fifth award. The 2023 Player of the Year scored 4-70 across eight games in the Munster and All Ireland championships. She delivered double figures against Tipperary (1-11), Cork (0-12), Antrim (0-11) and Derry (2-8). The Player of the Month award for May also resides in her trophy cabinet.
Only four Déise players have collected senior All Stars in the history of the scheme. Carton is currently on four (2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023). Lorraine Bray boasts three from 2019, 2022 and 2023. Vikki Falconer picked up her first gong last year while Niamh Rockett was recognised in 2020.
Full forward Mairéad O’Brien missed out on a 2024 nomination despite shooting six goals and two points during the All Ireland group stages. Niamh Rockett was also unlucky after striking three points from play and earning a penalty in the quarter final loss to Galway.
O’Duffy Cup winners Cork lead the way with twelve nominations followed closely by runners-up Galway on eleven. Seven Tipperary players are in the running while fellow All Ireland semi finalists Dublin have four hopefuls.
Cork pair Saoirse McCarthy and Laura Hayes along with Galway great Aoife Donohue make up the shortlist for the PwC GPA Camogie Senior Player of the Year.
