Waterford hurling boss Peter Queally believes that the Division 1B final should be a standalone fixture.

The Déise's clash with Offaly will act as the curtain raiser to Cork versus Tipperary in the 1A decider at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, on Sunday, April 6. The double header is already a sell-out even though tickets were only released on Monday afternoon.

Waterford players and management are currently on a training camp in Portugal.

Queally spoke to reporters via video link at today's Munster championship launch.

"I've heard rumours that there has been a bit of a scramble alright. We were speculating beforehand about what would happen. With two Munster teams, we thought it might be a Munster venue. Tipp and Cork would sell out any venue at the moment with the fanatical support that both have. The obvious thing to do from a financial point of view, for the GAA or Croke Park, would be two standalone games. If you brought Offaly and Waterford to Nowlan Park, you mightn't sell it out but you would get a nice size crowd and a good atmosphere on a Saturday evening or something. It is what it is now. We look at the positives. We're playing Cork in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in our last Munster championship match. It gives us a game in Páirc Uí Chaoimh which is a bit of a cauldron at the moment, a hard place to go for any team. That's the plus side of it for us."

Queally confirmed that Conor Prunty, Austin Gleeson, Kevin Mahony, Patrick Fitzgerald, Michael Kiely and Carthach Daly will miss the league final through injury. Defenders Iarlaith Daly and Ian Kenny will be available for selection.
