Historic Féile double for Gaultier

The Gauliter boys and girls panels.

In an unprecedented triumph, Gaultier LGFA girls and Gaultier GAA boys U15s teams clinched John West Féile 2024 titles in Connaught recently, marking an historic achievement for the club. This remarkable feat saw the teams become the first from Gaultier to win the prestigious titles, and astonishingly, both victories occurred in the same year.

The girls defeated the following county champions on their way to the final: St Pats (Louth), St Annes (Carlow), Tullamore (Offaly), and Ahane (Limerick) in the semi-final. In the final, the girls had a titanic battle with Dungloe (Donegal) and prevailed with a solid last ten minutes.

The boys' team defeated Newtownbutler (Fermanagh), Australia (slightly bigger than the Barony), and Loughrea (Galway) on their way to the final. The boys played magnificently to defeat St Mary's (Leitrim) in the final.

The excitement and pride of the Dunmore East and Gaultier Club community were palpable as the teams returned home to a rapturous reception at The Haven Hotel. Friends, family, and supporters gathered in large numbers to celebrate the remarkable double victory, recognising the years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance that led to this momentous occasion.

Adding to the historic nature of the wins, twins Aoife and Andrew Power played in their respective teams. Aoife and Andrew shared in the glory, underscoring the familial talent and commitment that runs deep in the Gaultier club.

Both teams expressed heartfelt gratitude to their coaches, parents, friends, and sponsors, acknowledging that their support was integral to their success. The community's backing has been unwavering, providing the foundation for the teams' achievements.

Their support has been crucial in equipping the teams for their victorious campaigns. The sponsorship has provided essential resources and boosted the teams' morale and sense of pride.

As the celebrations continue, the Gaultier LGFA and GAA teams look forward to future challenges with renewed confidence. They aim to build on their historic success and inspire the next generation of athletes in Dunmore East.
