Ballygunner's dream of landing four AIB Munster Club Senior Hurling Championship finals in a row were ended as the Waterford kingpins lost out to Cork side Sarsfield at Semple Stadium in Thurles this Sunday afternoon.
The Waterford side were odds on with the bookmakers to land another provincial title, but Darragh O'Sullivan's side found their match on this occasion as their opponents always held the upper hand to cruise to a 3-20 to 2-19 win with the Gunners second goal coming deep into added time.
The Gunners were behind 1-11 to 1-8 at the half-time break with Dessie Hutchinson finding the back of the net after Jack O'Connor early goals for Sars. Shane O'Regan bagged a brace of goals before Pauric Mahony raised a late green flag for his side in injury-time, but the damage was done as Sarsfields scored three goals to end Ballygunner's Munster reign.
